The Samsung T7 Shield rugged SSD launched in 2022 with a maximum of 2TB of capacity and is now available with twice that.
T7 Shield is a a credit-card size external SSD intended for outdoor content creators or travelers. It works with Mac and iPad plus a wide variety of devices.

Get 4TB of storage in Samsung T7 Shield
There’s nothing more convenient than storage built into your computer, but there are advantages to external SSDs, too. For one, someone with 4TB of external storage can buy to a new computer and still have just as much storage capacity at no additional cost.
And the Samsung T7 Shield can now provide that storage. It was previously available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, but Tuesday brought even greater capacity.
“Now at 4TB of capacity, the T7 Shield has enough room to store anything creators require while retaining its sleek and durable form factor and quick performance,” said Jose Hernandez, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, in a statement.
Fast, tough and small
The SSD connects via USB-C, and delivers a maximum read speed of 1,050 MBps and a max write speed of 1,000 MBps, double the speeds of the earlier T5.
The external drive can survive drops of up to 9.8 feet (3 meters), and it is IP65-certified as dustproof and water resistant. Despite the rugged design, the peripheral is pocket size, and it weighs 3.5 ounces (98 grams).
Samsung’s newest SSD is compatible with Mac and most iPads – any computer with a USB-C port. It also works with PC, Android and many game consoles. It comes bundled with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable.
The Samsung T7 Shield with 4TB of storage is now available at a suggested price of $429.99. Amazon is already selling it for 5% less.
