Apple TV+ finally revealed the premiere date for Ted Lasso season three. The hugely popular comedy will return on March 15.

There’s also a teaser trailer for the new season, along with hints of what to expect.

Ted Lasso season 3 is almost here

For the benefit of anyone who somehow missed out on the Ted Lasso phenomenon, the Apple TV+ hit is about an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team — despite having zero experience in the sport. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination … and biscuits.

Ted Lasso became the first break-out hit for Apple’s streaming service. And the show’s radical optimism quickly made it beloved by audiences (as well as a critics’ darling). The show won back-to-back Emmys for outstanding comedy.

At the start of season three (warning: spoilers for season two ahead …) everything seems to be falling apart both on and off the pitch. The newly promoted AFC Richmond faces predictions it will come in last in the Premier League. And Ted (played by Jason Sudeikis) must deal with pressures at work, even as he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home in America.

Assistant coach Nate (Nick Mohammed) has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United, while Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach for Richmond alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt). Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) focuses on defeating her spiteful ex, Rupert. And Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the boss of her own PR agency.

But Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway.

There will be 12 episodes of Ted Lasso, but these could be the very last: One of the series’ writers and stars said in 2022 that the plan is to end the show with season three.

The first episode of Ted Lasso‘s third season will premiere around the world on Wednesday, March 15, followed by new episodes weekly, every Wednesday.

To get caught up, binge-watch Ted Lasso seasons one and two on Apple’s streaming service. They’re available with a $5.99-per-month subscription.
