Apple’s key manufacturing partner Foxconn is ramping up hiring ahead of Apple’s anticipated iPhone 15 launch this fall. Foxconn is offering a variety of bonuses and incentives to former employees to encourage them to return to the assembly line. The job posting by Foxconnās Product Enclosure Business Group unit promises a bonus of 8,000 yuan (US$1,105) for employees who return regularly. Employees can also receive 1,000 yuan for referring people who are hired, and those who are hired through a referral during peak season and stay on for four months are eligible for a 7,000 yuan bonus.
The move is being seen as a sign of Apple’s continued reliance on its supply chain in China, despite its efforts to diversify its manufacturing locations. Reports also suggest Apple is expecting double the panel orders for the iPhone 15 compared to the iPhone 14 from last year. Apple is also expected to concentrate on shipping more iPhone 15 Pro models at launch compared to iPhone 14 Pro models last year due to the higher demand for Apple’s Pro models.
