Apple released the new AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro 2 in 2022. Now, attention turns to AirPods Max 2, with the original model released at the end of 2020. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple has discussed launching additional color variations for AirPods Max, but is not currently working on a second generation of the product. Furthermore, Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple could update AirPods Max in 2024 or 2025.
For AirPods 3, an update could come in 2023 or 2024 with the H2 chip and improved battery life. These wireless earbuds could add hearing-aid-like features, such as Conversation Boost and Live Listen, as well as USB-C support. AirPods Pro 3 could add several health features related to hearing-aid and temperature measurement, and could launch as soon as 2025.
The revised USB-C AirPods Pro 2 is also on the horizon, with mass shipments expected in 2Q23-3Q23. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes this could launch alongside the iPhone 15 announcement in September. Lastly, Apple could be readying a new AirPods Lite to compete with cheaper wireless earbuds with features yet to be determined.
