- Are you having trouble syncing your iPod?
- Do you have macOS Ventura 13.2 installed?
- Are you getting an “unknown error occurred” message?
- Learn how to fix the syncing issue in this article!
If you’re still using an iPod, you may have noticed that syncing issues have arisen with macOS Ventura 13.2. An error message stating “unknown error occurred” with a specific error number 25170 is being recieved, and Apple may or may not fix it with future releases. Fortunately, there is a workaround you can try: use Activity Monitor to force quit some background processes. Once you open Activity Monitor, search for AMPDeviceDiscoveryAgent, AMPDevicesAgent, or com.apple.amp.devicesui. Double click on the process and choose Quit and Force Quit. Then, in the Finder, choose the Go menu and Go to Folder and enter /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AMPDevices.framework/Versions/A/Support. Finally, double click on the file you force quit in Activity Monitor and plug your iPod back in.
This workaround may not fix the issue for everyone, but it is worth a try. The article was written by William Gallagher: Apple Historian and Senior Editor for AppleInsider. For more information, check out his profile here and follow him on his website, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
