Apple reported its results for the third quarter of 2023 on Thursday, with an earnings per share of $1.26, surpassing analyst expectations of $1.19. The total revenue for the quarter was reported to be $81.8 billion, a 1% year-over-year decrease from the $82.9 billion reported one year prior.
Services proved to be the star of the quarter, with an all-time record revenue of $21.21 billion for the June quarter, up 8% from the $19.6 billion reported in the same period the year prior. iPad revenue showed a 20% decrease from $7.22 billion in Q3 2022 to $5.79 billion in Q3 2023, while Mac revenue decreased 7% from $7.38 billion to $6.84 billion. Wearables, Home, and Accessories saw an increase of 2% to $8.28 billion from the year-ago quarter.
Apple has declined to provide formal guidance for the September quarter, but CEO Tim Cook noted that the company saw continued strength in emerging markets thanks to robust sales of iPhone and was continuing to advance its values while championing innovation. CFO Luca Maestri also reported that the June quarter’s YoY business performance improved from the March quarter.
