- Google Chrome for iOS and Mac receive updates to improve search functions and downloads experiences.
- The iOS update gives users access to “Related to this page” search suggestions when selecting the address bar.
- The Mac Chrome update provides a better download experience with a tray located next to the address bar.
Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers available and has received an update for both iOS and Mac versions. The iOS update focuses on giving users more opportunities to initiate searches with the address bar now being content-aware. This means when selecting the address bar while browsing a website, search suggestions will appear under “Related to this page”. Later in 2023, trending searches will appear similar to how they have on Android. Additionally, related searches will appear on a card at the bottom of the app when a word or object is selected, as well as ten total search suggestions instead of just six.
The Mac Chrome update provides a better download experience with a tray located next to the address bar. This location is more modern and standardized across other browsers like Safari. The download tray is visible whenever a download is in progress or within the last 24 hours of a download. It offers features like the ability to pause, resume, or stop a download, as well as more content to view about a download, like warnings or errors. Files that are deemed dangerous are clearly labeled. The latest release of Chrome is now available with the new download view. Get these updates from Apple’s Chrome website for desktop.
