- Apple patent reveals possible AirPods accessories such as a necklace or bracelet
- The current charging case isn’t exactly massive and unmissable
- The accessories aim to solve the issue of misplacing AirPods and provide charging capabilities
Apple is looking for ways to make its AirPods more convenient for its users. In a newly-granted patent, the company proposes multiple charging accessories that can be worn like a necklace, bracelet, or even a keyring. The accessories are intended to solve the issue of misplacing AirPods and provide charging capabilities.
The patent describes a “Wireless Headphone Accessory” with a first and second receiving portion connected by a housing. The housing can be flexible or bendable, and some of the accessories may include lights to show the charging level. One of the illustrations shows earbuds slotted into a U-shaped necklace, while another proposes a bracelet. The patent also mentions the possibility of attaching AirPods to a backpack.
The patent is credited to nine inventors, including Kristen L. Cretella, who has previously done research into making a device that is similar to a “Star Trek” communicator badge. If Apple’s research pans out, the familiar puck-shaped AirPods charging case could be joined by versions that can be worn like a necklace or bracelet.
