The 16th annual iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA) has announced their winners for the year. The Grand Prize-winning photograph, “Heroe” was taken by Ivan Silva of Mexico. The judges praised the image, noting how it “heightens the photo’s sense of solitude and focus.”

Thea Mihu of Germany won first place for her “Soy Sauce Village” shot on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. In second place was Bosnia’s Sasa Borozan with “Taming Waves,” shot on an iPhone 13 Pro. Third place was Derek Hager of the USA, with “Tucson Morning,” shot on an iPhone X.

Americans took first place in four of the subject categories. Skye Snyder won for the Animals category and Scott Galloway won for the Nature category, both using the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sofia Ershova took first place in the Children category using her iPhone 13 Pro and Tao Fan used an iPhone 11 to take first place in the Other category.

The 17th annual IPPA contest is now open for submissions, and the closing date is March 31, 2024.
