A woman in the Netherlands was able to recover her stolen bike with the help of a hidden AirTag. Beatriz Spaltemberg and her husband, William Lacerda, live in Utrecht, a city where bike thefts are becoming increasingly common. When Spaltemberg returned to her bike after an hour, it had been stolen. She immediately opened the Find My app and could see the bike’s location in almost real time. The couple called the police and went to the location indicated by the Find My app. There, the stolen bike was locked to a lamppost and they used the Precision Finding feature to prove it was Spaltemberg’s. The police are now collecting footage from street cameras to find the thief.
This isn’t the first time that an AirTag has been credited with helping someone recover their lost item. An AirTag was previously used to find a stolen bull mascot, and they cost $29 in the US. Have you had success with AirTag? Let us know in the comments section.
