Apple Rolling Out Siri Support in Hebrew for HomePod and Apple TV

  • Apple is officially rolling out Siri support in Hebrew for HomePod and Apple TV.
  • The updates were made available to developers and beta testers on Tuesday.
  • Siri support in Hebrew has never been available on Apple TV.
  • Adding Hebrew language support to Siri on the HomePod suggests the company’s smart speaker could soon launch in Israel.

Apple is rolling out an update to its HomePod and Apple TV devices that will bring support for the Hebrew language on Siri. The update, which is currently available to developers and beta testers in the form of Release Candidates (RC) of iOS 16.6 and tvOS 16.6, will allow users in Israel to use Apple’s digital assistant in their native language.

The addition of Hebrew language support for the HomePod could be a sign that Apple is preparing to launch its smart speaker in Israel. This follows past software updates that have enabled language support in the HomePod when Apple was preparing to launch it in a new country. Just this year, HomePod Software 15.6 added support for Norwegian and Swedish, before the HomePod mini launched in Norway, Sweden, and Finland in December.

The HomePod lineup consists of two different speakers, the HomePod mini and the second-generation HomePod. The HomePod mini is a much smaller version of the original 2017 HomePod, while the second-generation HomePod features temperature and humidity sensors, as well as a removable power cord. Both speakers support Siri and AirPlay, as well as Apple HomeKit, allowing users to control their smart home from the device.

There is no word yet on when the RC updates will become available to the public, but considering they have already been released, the official release should happen in the coming days.
