- The iPhone 15 Pro Max will ship with a better camera than the iPhone 15 Pro
- The Pro Max will have a new telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom at 120 mm
- The Pro Max is larger to accommodate the new lens compared to the Pro
Apple announced the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will both feature an improved camera. The Pro Max will come with a new telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom at 120 mm. To accommodate the larger lens, the Pro Max is larger than the Pro.
The Pro Max will have a starting price of $1199 for the 128GB configuration, a raise of $100 compared to the Pro. For someone like the author, who has previously used the iPhone 13 mini, the 3x zoom with the Pro’s telephoto lens is already plenty and the larger size of the Pro Max isn’t desirable.
The author’s biggest reason for upgrading was the titanium, and the decision now lies between the Natural Titanium and Blue color options. The extra zoom on the Pro Max is nice, but it isn’t worth the extra cost, size, and lack of titanium.
Apple’s new iPhones are impressive, but the Pro Max may not be the right option for everyone.
